Why choose F-150

Explore the features that make this the most capable, technologically advanced F-150 ever.

Big on design

The long road from Dearborn to you

Every F-150 sold in Australia is built in the Ford Dearborn truck plant in Michigan. These authentic American legends are then shipped over, and, via an uncompromising and detailed re-manufacturing process, converted to right-hand drive for Australian customers. In this video, you’ll see the impressive facility where it all takes place.

Every part as good

While about 500 parts are replaced in the right-hand drive remanufacturing process, around 90% of the F-150 remains exactly the same. And what is swapped out, like the cast-magnesium cross-car beam, is every bit the equal of the original.

Attention to detail

Even the very smallest things matter. The drive shifter, for example, has been retooled with 30 new parts to create a mirror-image right-hand drive equivalent.

Room to work

You can get the job done in an F-150. Press a button on the LARIAT gear shifter1 when you’re parked and it stows away so you can unfold a table from the armrest, providing a handy table for work or lunch.

Hide precious cargo

You can keep valuable cargo close at hand, yet out of sight, with the generous hidden storage under the rear seat of the F-150. And, if you want even more space, LARIAT includes a partitioned lockable, fold-flat storage compartment for greater cargo organisation.

Takes whatever you throw at it

The F-150’s tub is built just as tough as the rest of it, with the tailgate designed as a mobile work bench, a tough spray-in liner, four adjustable tie-down cleats and a sliding rear window2 for extra flexibility.

Big on Capability

Room to carry it all

Whether for work or play, F-150 can handle larger loads with the increased flexibility of the larger 6.5-foot styleside box option1. Helping you to carry longer tools and materials with ease and all the gear you need for an amazing weekend away.

3.5L EcoBoost V6

Handle big loads with Ford’s high tech, 24-valve 3.5L EcoBoost twin turbo V6 engine, coupled with the advanced 10-speed transmission, delivering an effortless 298kW2 of power and 678Nm2 of torque.

4x4 System

The Electronic Shift-On-The-Fly (ESOF) 4x4 system allows you to select different 4WD modes by simply turning the dial. Depending on your driving conditions, ESOF lets you shift between 2WD and two 4WD modes (4x4 High or Low) as well as ‘Full-time’ 4WD with automatic On-Demand engagement3, ensuring you can choose efficiency when you need it or increased power or grip when the situation calls for it.

Towing made effortless

In this video, you’ll see how easy the F-150 makes towing. You’ve got enough power, with the big V6 engine and sophisticated 10-speed auto. But there’s also a host of sophisticated features, like Dynamic Hitch Assist4 and Pro Trailer Back-up AssistTM4. They make handling up to 4.5 tonnes5 a breeze.

Selectable Drive Modes

From Normal to Deep Snow/Sand mode to the available 4x4 electronic shift on-the-fly four-wheel drive, Selectable Drive Modes4 is activated at the touch of a button. Instantly modify the Electronic Stability Control System and Traction Control based on the type of terrain you encounter, optimising performance for different surfaces, road conditions and vehicle usage. Each mode has its own avatar and theme that is displayed on the Digital Instrument Cluster.

Built Ford Tough

From the military grade aluminium-alloy body to the torture-tested high-strength steel frame, the F-150 is premium-grade muscle with purpose in every inch. During local engineering and development, F-150 has undergone unrelenting testing from -40° to +50° Celsius temperatures, trailer towing, mud, ultra-fine sand, water crossings, durability and corrosion tests to ensure durability and quality. Built Ford Tough isn’t just a slogan - it’s a symbol of excellence.

Big on Driver Assistance

Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert & Trailer Coverage¹

This feature helps you change lanes, alerts you when a vehicle enters the blind spot zone and will even resist the lane change if the driver misses the warning. Fill in your trailer information and you will also be alerted when a vehicle is alongside your trailer. F-150 also comes with Cross-Traffic Alert which helps detect traffic approaching from the sides when slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway.

Reverse Brake Assist²

Your F-150 can detect if there is an object or pedestrian behind you or a vehicle about to cross at the rear. It will sound an alert and, if you don't react in time, brake for you.

Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)³

F-150 can alert you to a potential collision with a vehicle, cyclist or pedestrian in front of you and also while turning at intersections. If you don’t take corrective action, the brakes will apply automatically

Evasive Steer Assist²

Standard on LARIAT, if Pre-collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)3 determines the distance is too short to brake in time to avoid a collision, your F-150 will provide steering support (without steering for you) to help you avoid the obstacle.

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Centering⁴

Standard on LARIAT, once you have activated the Traffic Sign Recognition feature and set your preferred speed, the system can detect and automatically adjust to speed limit signs, slow down according to traffic flow, and even come to a complete stop according to traffic conditions and then return to your set cruising speed once traffic clears. The Lane Centering feature, unique to F-150 LARIAT in this segment, scans lane markings to autonomously help keep your vehicle centered between the lane markings.

360-Degree Camera

Standard on LARIAT, the 360-Degree Camera5 offers a bird’s-eye top-down view around your vehicle. This feature makes it easier than ever to navigate tight spaces and crowded parking lots.

[1] Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. May not operate at certain speeds, or in certain driving, road or weather conditions. See Owner’s Manual for more information. Trailer Coverage system supports conventional trailer dimensions: up to 2.6m wide (measured at trailer front) and up to 10m long from the rear of your vehicle. Drivers will need to create a profile of their trailers in SYNC to support this system.

[2] Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver's attention, judgement and need to control the vehicle. May not operate at certain speeds, or in certain driving, road or weather conditions. Please see Owner's Manual for more information. Reverse Brake Assist functions when in reverse and travelling at a speed of 2-12 km/h.

[3] Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver's attention, judgement and need to control the vehicle. May not operate at certain speeds, or in certain driving, road or weather conditions. Please see Owner's Manual for more information. Pre-collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking detects pedestrians, but not in all conditions, and can help avoid or reduce a collision. It does not replace safe driving. Intersection Assist does not detect all vehicles in intersection, pedestrians or cyclists. It does not replace safe driving. See Owner’s Manual for Limitations.

[4] Standard on LARIAT. Not available on XLT. Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. May not operate at certain speeds, or in certain driving, road or weather conditions. Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (iACC) uses various data to adjust the set speed of the vehicle to the speed limit detected by the system. The iACC system will not always detect the correct speed limit and may set a vehicle speed that is above or below the actual speed limit. If the system does this, it can be overridden by the driver applying the brake or accelerator or via steering wheel controls. In some circumstances, iACC will use map data to set the vehicle speed. Ford recommends keeping map data updated by fully activating the vehicle’s FordPass Connect modem and enabling Connected Navigation Services. Connected Navigation Services are included for 1 year from the Ford Express New Vehicle Warranty start date and available ongoing subject to payment of a subscription fee. Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centring has a minimum operating speed of 20km/hr. Detection of lower speed limit will result in system entering standby when iACC is active. The Stop and Go functionality of this system operates as low as 0km/hr in traffic jam situations. Lane Centring feature should be disabled via the Driver Assistance menu in SYNC before towing. Customers should read the Owner’s Manual for details of the limitations of the iACC system before activating. Speed Sign Recognition will not always detect the correct speed limit and may display a speed that is above or below the actual speed limit. In some circumstances, Speed Sign Recognition will use map data to display the speed limit on the digital instrument cluster.

[5] Standard on LARIAT. Not available on XLT. Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. May not operate at certain speeds, or in certain driving, road or weather conditions. See Owner’s Manual for more information.
